The seven wonders of the modern world

                 

Christ the Redeemer (1931) - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Symbol of Hospitality and Openness

Statue of Jesus Christ, with about 38 meters high, is located at the top of Mount Corcovado, overlooking Rio de Janeiro. The project, made of soapstone and considered historical patrimony since 1937, is the Brazilian engineer Heitor da Silva Costa, in collaboration with the French sculptor Paul Landowski of Polish origin. The final design is by artist Carlos Oswald. The statue took five years to construct and was inaugurated on 10.12.1931.

-Great Wall of China (220 BC and 1368-1644) - China Symbol of Perseverance and Persistence

The Great Wall of China was built to link existing fortifications, creating a defense system that would prevent the invasion of Chinese territory by Mongol tribes. It is the largest monument ever built by man and only one visible from space.
Taj Mahal (1630) - Agra, India - Symbol of Love and Passion

The great monument of Taj Mahal is a mausoleum all in white marble, surrounded by beautiful, elaborate gardens, located in the city of Agra (South Delhi). It was built by order of Shah Jahan, the 5th Muslim Mogul emperor, in memory of his beloved late third wife.
Colosseum (70-82 AD) - Rome, Italy - Symbol of Joy and Suffering

This great amphitheater was built in the center of Rome in honor of the successful legionnaires and to celebrate the glory of the Roman Empire.
Petra (Aretas IV, 9 BC-40 AD) 


The city of Petra is Jordan's main tourist attraction and houses the impressive Hellenistic temple. With 42 meters high and 30 wide, in its pink stone facade is carved with representations of women, horses and soldiers
